THE NEW URBAN BALKAN SOUND
Projekt Rakija is a band formed and led by producer/guitarist Igor Sekulović. Igor was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina and fled the war at age nine to live in the Netherlands. With Projekt Rakija he’s combining the best of both worlds.
Sleazy synthesizers combined with funky beats and melancholic Balkan horns create a a unique, urban Balkan sound. Influences from different music styles such as dubb, electro, reggae and ska give the music energy and lets the crowd go wild. Projekt Rakija stands for uniting, no boundaries and drinking the moment.
Projekt Rakija has been playing the major European festivals for more than 5 years now. Festivals like Sziget, Lowlands, Eurosonic, Boomtown Fair, Demofest, Wild Mint Music, Zwarte Cross and many more have enjoyed the Projet Rakija show!
PARTY & EGGS
Projekt Rakija stands for unity, no boundaries and losing yourself in the moment. “Party & Eggs” is an EP produced by Ali Reza Tahoeni (A.R.T.) and Igor Sekulović.
The collaboration between Ali Reza (from Iran) and Igor (former Yugoslavia) is unique. Both Ali Reza and Igor came to the Netherlands as asylum seekers and adapted well to Dutch society. Ali Reza became one of the leading beat makers and producers of the Dutch hiphop scene while Igor graduated at the Rock Academy. Igor started the band “Projekt Rakija”, travelling and performing continuously throughout Europe. The intense collaboration between Igor and Ali Reza resulted in achieving their long held dream of creating a balkan album. The EP “Party & Eggs” is a warm up to the full length album that will come out in spring 2018. Ali Reza and Igor’s different backgrounds have resulted in a special sound known as urban balkan: a cross over between balkan, dub, garage and ska.
